Village /// highlights of that place /// native name

Oceania is the only continent divided into subregions, because it is the only one the United Nations listed without cardinal directions. Greece is divided into the Greek Isles, with highlights being the towns, mountains or beaches on the islands. If the landmark is more famous than the village it’s from, the town is excluded and then annotated at the end.

A Brief History of the World

America is named after Amerigo Vespucci. Originally, it was called the New World by European explorers.

Europe and Asia are named after Greek Gods, Europa and Asia. Asia also means “Rising Sun.”

Australia comes from the Latin, terra australis incognita, meaning unknown southern land.

Leif Erickson was the first to discover North America. Later Christopher Columbus came thinking he had arrived in the West Indies. He returned later with more European voyagers and the troops of Spain slaughtered the nude, native sometimes cannibalistic people living in the New World.
